Cheryse McLeod Lewis, Mezzo-Soprano, is an accomplished performer in opera, music theatre, concert, and recital. This spring, Ms. Lewis will make her 2020 Spoleto Festival USA debut in Charleston, SC singing the role of The Mother in the world premiere opera, Omar. Last season, Ms. Lewis made her Seattle Opera debut as Annie in Porgy and Bess. Previously, Ms. Lewis performed on the 1st National Broadway Tour of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bessas U/S Bess and Ensemble Swing appearing in the title role (Bess) numerous times to critical acclaim. Some of Ms. Lewis’other leading roles include Cinderella’s Stepmother in Into the Woods (Village Theatre); the title role in Carmen (Capital Opera Raleigh; Asheville Lyric Opera); Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Asheville Lyric Opera, Mansfield Symphony, Central Georgia Opera Guild); Hansel in Hansel and Gretel (Connecticut Opera; Greensboro Opera); The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors (Opera Carolina; Connecticut Opera); and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus (Vashon Opera; Greensboro Opera). Ms. Lewis also appears in concert and recital to rave reviews and has performed as a soloist with Orchestra Seattle, Boise Philharmonic, Greensboro Symphony, Olympia Symphony Orchestra, Eugene Concert Choir, and Kirkland Choral Society to name a few.
