What’s Happening at CofC: Week of 5/22/16

Announcements

REUNION SUNDAY NEXT WEEK – May 29 is a fifth Sunday, and the final Reunion Sunday of this worship season. We’ll gather at 10 am for one combined worship service, then afterwards enjoy an Old Fashioned Church Picnic with fun and games for all.  Please sign up at the Information Desk.  Hot dogs and hamburgers along with beverages will be provided – bring some “go-withs” to fit the picnic theme.  Suggestions include green and other salads (potato, macaroni, coleslaw), fruit, chips, deviled eggs, pickles and pickled veggies, finger desserts such as cookies, brownies, bars – or anything you think of as picnic fare.

CHILDREN’S FAITH FORMATION/SUNDAY SCHOOL  There is NO Sunday School next week due to the family picnic; we hope to see you there!  Our last day of Sunday School for the year will be June 5th at 9:15am (note the time change) in the Youth Room.  We’ll be back after Labor Day with new fun lessons!  We hope to see you then!

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR GLADYS ARNESON –  The service is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 am.  Condolence cards may be sent to: Art Arneson at  3208 Rejoice Way SE, Olympia, WA   98501The Memorial Reception Committee is asking the congregation’s assistance with the reception following the service.  Please contact Gale Hill at ghill5250@gmail.com or at 206-940-1214 if you are able to help with set up, plating, providing food, and/or clean-up.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

DO YOU HAVE OLD PICTURES?  — Do you have old (or old OLD) pictures of church activities?  Our webpage team would love your old pictures from Cross of Christ activities all the way back to the 1960s!  We’re hoping to get photos from a variety of activities featuring groups of all ages.  Please label each picture with names, dates (approximate is fine) and the activity (if you can remember).  Then put them in an envelope or folder clearly labeled with your name and leave them in Kristie’s box in the office.  We’ll get them scanned and back to you within the week.  If you have questions (or digital pictures!), you can email youth@cofclc.net.  Thank you!

ANNUAL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT – At the annual meeting, June 5, the congregation will be asked to vote on amendments to the constitution and bylaws.  Copies of the revisions are available at the Town Hall Meeting and the document can also be viewed on the church’s website http://www.crossofchristbellevue.org/constitution-bylaws-amendments/ .

HELPING IN WORSHIP There are many roles that are a blessing to fill during worship – usher, lector, communion assistant, assisting minister, choir member, band member, and cantor, to name a few.  Have you ever considered one of these? Would you like to learn more – or maybe even sign up to participate? Go to the Cross of Christ website www.cofclc.org to sign up as a lector or assisting minister, or connect with Vernette Rae who coordinates these roles at vernette.rae@gmail.com to learn more. Director of Music Ministry David Hendrix is the contact for those wanting to know more about being a cantor or singing in choir for the Traditional Service, or to learn more about being a part of the Mosaic Band for our Casual service – David’s email is david.e.hendrix@gmail.com.

Helmut Rae is our Head Usher – contact him at helmut@assemblysolutions.net. Each week and at each service worshipers are called on to assist with communion distribution. Would you like to be a part of this meaningful ministry?  Let Altar Guild Chair Gale Hill know – ghill5250@gmail.com.

Together we are the church!
