Pastor Dave Thomas

Lead Pastor

Pastor Dave Thomas is amazed that a boy from the Ozark Mountains of Southwest Missouri not only serves an awesome congregation in Bellevue, Washington, but spent much of his adult life in Arizona, lived and worked in Africa for several years, traveled to quite a few Latin American countries, and has a son playing baseball and studying law, philosophy and English in an Iowa college.

Pastor Dave graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield, Missouri, so long ago that he had a punk rock rattail, a complete Elvis Costello collection on 8-track, and a “Disco Sucks” T-Shirt.  He has degrees in Journalism from Arizona State University and Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California, and studied before and after that at Drury College in Springfield and Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Pastor Dave has been married to Barbara for more than three decades – which sounds like a long time when you put it that way. He and his family are uber passionate (some say that’s an understatement) fans of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, enjoyers of the great outdoors, and homebodies who watch a lot of HGTV, NatGeo, ESPN, and “Elementary” and “The Black List” reruns.  PD is an occasional golfer, a sadly lapsed fly fisherman, and an aging but occasionally still productive softball player.  He quotes “The Princess Bride” – in character – way too much.  And Scripture just about the right amount. He blogs as the spirit moves at Monday Musings.  His 8-track collection lives in his office at home.

Judy Giseburt

Office Manager

Her diversity of interests makes Judy Giseburt a natural fit for the diversity of tasks she handles as Cross of Christ’s Office Manager.  Whether it’s making sure that the copier has paper or handling the details for a large memorial service, she makes sure the pieces come together and makes it all seem easy.

Aside from smoothly handling details from her office, Judy is also an active member of the Cross of Christ Tanzania Mission Team and will be traveling with them in 2016.  When she’s not doing that (and sometimes when she is), she enjoys spending time with her family and in the outdoors.  She hopes to someday be remembered as someone who served and treated people with kindness.

Ben Fowler

Director of Music Ministries

We’ll be telling you about Ben soon!

Kristie Walker

Director of Children and Youth Ministries, Social Media

A life-long Lutheran, Kristie Walker sees service as a way to live her faith, and strives to promote that in her programming.  Although she was born and raised in California, she moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington and never looked back. After finishing her undergrad (English) and masters (Teaching) at the UW, she spent several years teaching in an urban middle school before shifting her focus to working with smaller groups of children and teens.

When she’s not at work, Kristie can generally be found spending time with her husband and three children, as well as serving as a volunteer educator and co-leader of a Seattle-area parenting organization.  Her favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Jan Galbraith

Ark Childcare Director

With a passion for lifelong learning, Jan Galbraith has served The Ark since its beginning in 1993.  Her background Early Childhood Education and her energetic personality help drive the consistent excellence of care that The Ark has become known for in the greater Bellevue area.  Her driving philosophy is that The Ark should serve as the next best place to home for children while their parents are at work, and that children should be allowed to be children while being nurtured in an active learning environment.

When she’s not at work, Jan enjoys spending time out and about with family and friends and staying active.  An Oregon transplant, she’s called the Seattle area home for almost 30 years and enjoys its diversity of people and activities.  She hopes to be remembered someday as someone who made people laugh.

Denise Fuentes

Bookkeeper

Denise Fuentes loves putting things in order, which makes her a natural fit for her job as Cross of Christ bookkeeper.  She also has a passion for ministries that help people and considers herself blessed that her 30 years of bookkeeping–including 11 at Cross of Christ–allows her to do just that.  Originally from California, she felt herself called to the Pacific Northwest over 25 years ago and has never looked back.

When she’s not lining up numbers, Denise can be found spending time with her husband and two adult daughters.  She also enjoys gardening and cooking and sharing those bounties with others.  She happily admits that her spice cabinet is alphabetized.

Colin Walker

Director, Carillon Handbell Choir

Colin Walker is a Bellevue native who’s attended Cross of Christ since the age of 8.  A brief time away netted him a Bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, but he returned home afterward to complete a Master in Public Administration from Seattle University.  He uses his 25+ years of handbell experience to serve as director for the Carillon handbell choir, a position he’s filled since 2006.  He also rings with and serves as Managing Director for the Emerald City Ringers, a community handbell group serving the greater Seattle area.

Colin’s non-musical pursuits include working as Marketing Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation department of a local municipality and spending time with his wife and three children.  His personal favorite power tool is a cordless drill because of its convenience and versatility.
